44 But news from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out with great fury to destroy and devote many to destruction. 

New International Version

44 But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. 

New International Reader’s Version

44 But reports from the east and the north will terrify him. He will march out with great anger to destroy many people and wipe them out. 

King James Version

44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
