2 Samuel 5:9

English Standard Version

9 And David lived in the stronghold and called it the city of David. And David built the city all around from the Millo inward. (2Sa 5:7; 1Ki 9:15; 1Ki 9:24; 1Ki 11:27; 2Ki 12:20; 2Ch 32:5) 

New International Version

9 David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built up the area around it, from the terraces[1] inwards. 

New International Reader’s Version

9 David moved into the fort. He called it the City of David. He built up the area around the fort. He filled in the low places. He started at the bottom and worked his way up. 

King James Version

9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
