21 And Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said, “To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be averted from the people.” (Nu 16:48; Nu 16:50) 

New International Version

21 Araunah said, ‘Why has my lord the king come to his servant?’ ‘To buy your threshing-floor,’ David answered, ‘so that I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

21 Araunah said, ‘King David, you are my master. Why have you come to see me?’ ‘To buy your threshing-floor,’ David answered. ‘I want to build an altar there to honour the LORD. When I do, the plague on the people will be stopped.’ 

King James Version

21 And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
