2 Samuel 15:34

English Standard Version

34 But if you return to the city and say to Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father’s servant in time past, so now I will be your servant,’ then you will defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel. (2Sa 16:19) 

New International Version

34 But if you return to the city and say to Absalom, “Your Majesty, I will be your servant; I was your father’s servant in the past, but now I will be your servant,” then you can help me by frustrating Ahithophel’s advice. 

New International Reader’s Version

34 So return to the city. Say to Absalom, “Your Majesty, I’ll be your servant. In the past, I was your father’s servant. But now I’ll be your servant.” If you do that, you can help me by making sure Ahithophel’s advice fails. 

King James Version

34 But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father' servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
