31 And it was told David, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” (2Sa 16:23; 2Sa 17:14; 2Sa 17:23) 

New International Version

31 Now David had been told, ‘Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.’ So David prayed, ‘Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

31 David had been told, ‘Ahithophel, along with Absalom, is one of the people making secret plans against you.’ So David prayed, ‘LORD, make Ahithophel’s advice look foolish.’ 

King James Version

31 And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
