English Standard Version

24 And the king said, “Let him dwell apart in his own house; he is not to come into my presence.” So Absalom lived apart in his own house and did not come into the king’s presence. 

New International Version

24 But the king said, ‘He must go to his own house; he must not see my face.’ So Absalom went to his own house and did not see the face of the king. 

New International Reader’s Version

24 But the king said, ‘He must go to his own house. I don’t want him to come and see me.’ So Absalom went to his own house. He didn’t go to see the king. 

King James Version

24 And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king' face.
