39 And the spirit of the king[1] longed to go out[2] to Absalom, because he was comforted about Amnon, since he was dead. (Ge 24:67; Ge 37:35; Ge 38:12) 

New International Version

39 And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon’s death. 

New International Reader’s Version

39 After some time the king got over his sorrow because of Amnon’s death. Then King David longed to go to Absalom. 

King James Version

39 And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
