18 And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David killed of the Syrians the men of 700 chariots, and 40,000 horsemen, and wounded Shobach the commander of their army, so that he died there. (1Ch 19:18)

New International Version

18 But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred of their charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers.[1] He also struck down Shobak the commander of their army, and he died there. (1Ch 19:18)

New International Reader’s Version

18 But then they ran away from Israel. David killed 700 of their chariot riders. He killed 40,000 of their soldiers who were on foot. He also struck down Shobak, the commander of their army. Shobak died there.

King James Version

18 And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
