19 Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, since he promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever. (2Sa 7:12; 2Sa 21:17; 1Ki 11:36; 1Ki 15:4; Ps 132:11)

New International Version

19 Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants for ever.

19 But the LORD didn’t want to destroy Judah. That’s because the LORD had made a covenant with his servant David. The LORD had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The LORD had promised that for him and his children after him for ever.

19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant' sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
