5 But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.”

New International Version

5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axe-head fell into the water. ‘Oh no, my lord!’ he cried out. ‘It was borrowed!’

New International Reader’s Version

5 One of them was cutting down a tree. The iron blade of his axe fell into the water. ‘Oh no, master!’ he cried out. ‘This axe was borrowed!’

King James Version

5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
