7 And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. (2Ki 21:3; 2Ki 21:4)

New International Version

7 He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the temple, of which the Lord had said to David and to his son Solomon, ‘In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name for ever.

7 Manasseh had carved a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. He put it in the temple. The LORD had spoken to David and his son Solomon about the temple. He had said, ‘My Name will be in this temple and in Jerusalem for ever. Out of all the cities in the tribes of Israel I have chosen Jerusalem.
