2 Corinthians 1:12

English Standard Version

12 For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity[1] and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. (Ac 23:1; 1Co 2:4; 1Co 2:13; 2Co 2:17; 2Co 4:2; 1Th 2:10)

New International Version

12 Now this is our boast: our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity[1] and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.

New International Reader’s Version

12 Here is what we take pride in. Our sense of what is right and wrong tells us how we have acted. We have lived with honour and godly honesty. We have depended on God’s grace and not on the world’s wisdom. We lived that way most of all when we were dealing with you.

King James Version

12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
