2 Chronicles 21:7

English Standard Version

7 Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever. (2Sa 21:17; 1Ki 11:36)

New International Version

7 Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants for ever.

New International Reader’s Version

7 But the LORD didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the LORD had made a covenant with him. The LORD had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The LORD had promised that for David and his children after him for ever.

King James Version

7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
