1 Thessalonians 5:3

English Standard Version

3 While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (Ps 35:8; Isa 13:8; Lu 17:26; Lu 21:34; 2Th 1:9) 

New International Version

3 While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety’, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 

New International Reader’s Version

3 People will be saying that everything is peaceful and safe. Then suddenly they will be destroyed. It will happen like birth-pains coming on a pregnant woman. None of the people will escape. 

King James Version

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
