12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen[1] and called its name Ebenezer;[2] for he said, “Till now the Lord has helped us.” (Ge 28:18; Ge 31:45; Ge 35:14; Jos 4:9; Jos 24:26) 

New International Version

12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer,[1] saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

12 Then Samuel got a big stone. He set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer. He said, ‘The LORD has helped us every step of the way.’ 

King James Version

12 Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.
