9 And Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! If I knew that it was determined by my father that harm should come to you, would I not tell you?” (1Sa 20:7) 

New International Version

9 ‘Never!’ Jonathan said. ‘If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you?’ 

New International Reader’s Version

9 ‘I would never do that!’ Jonathan said. ‘Suppose I had even the smallest clue that my father had made up his mind to harm you. Then I would tell you.’
