English Standard Version

25 The king sat on his seat, as at other times, on the seat by the wall. Jonathan sat opposite,[1] and Abner sat by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty. (1Sa 20:18) 

New International Version

25 He sat in his customary place by the wall, opposite Jonathan,[1] and Abner sat next to Saul, but David’s place was empty. 

New International Reader’s Version

25 He sat in his usual place by the wall. Jonathan sat opposite him. Abner sat next to Saul. But David’s place was empty. 

King James Version

25 And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul' side, and David' place was empty.
