English Standard Version

25 Then Saul said, “Thus shall you say to David, ‘The king desires no bride-price except a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, that he may be avenged of the king’s enemies.’” Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. (Ge 34:12; Ex 22:17; 1Sa 14:24; 1Sa 18:17; 1Sa 18:21) 

New International Version

25 Saul replied, ‘Say to David, “The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.” ’ Saul’s plan was for David to fall by the hands of the Philistines. 

New International Reader’s Version

25 Saul said, ‘Tell David, “Here’s the price the king wants for the bride. He wants you to kill 100 Philistines. Then bring back the skins you cut off when you circumcise them. That’s how Saul will get even with his enemies.” ’ Saul hoped that the Philistines would strike David down. 

King James Version

25 And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king' enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
