English Standard Version

1 As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. (De 13:6; 1Sa 19:2; 1Sa 20:17; 2Sa 1:26) 

New International Version

1 After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 

New International Reader’s Version

1 David finished talking with Saul. After that, Jonathan and David became close friends. Jonathan loved David just as he loved himself. 

King James Version

1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
