4 that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack[1] a man on the throne of Israel.’ (2Sa 7:12; 2Sa 7:25; 1Ki 3:6; 1Ki 8:25; 1Ki 9:4; 1Ki 9:5; 2Ki 20:3; Ps 132:12)

4 and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: “If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.”

4 The LORD will keep the promise he made to me. He said, “Your sons must be careful about how they live. They must be faithful to me with all their heart and soul. Then you will always have a son from your family line to sit on the throne of Israel.”
