18 And when Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over him with fire and died, 

New International Version

18 When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died, 

New International Reader’s Version

18 Zimri saw that they had taken over the city. So he went into the safest place in the royal palace. He set the palace on fire all around him. He died there 

King James Version

18 And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king' house, and burnt the king' house over him with fire, and died,
