1 Kings 1:13

English Standard Version

13 Go in at once to King David, and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then is Adonijah king?’ (1Ki 1:30; 1Ch 22:9) 

New International Version

13 Go in to King David and say to him, “My lord the king, did you not swear to me your servant: ‘Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne’? Why then has Adonijah become king?” 

New International Reader’s Version

13 Go in and see King David. Say to him, “You are my king and master. You promised me, ‘You can be sure that your son Solomon will be king after me. He will sit on my throne.’ If that’s really true, why has Adonijah become king?” 

King James Version

13 Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
