1 John 5:16

English Standard Version

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God[1] will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. (Job 42:8; Jer 7:16; Jer 14:11; Mt 12:31; Mr 3:29; Lu 12:10; Heb 6:4; Heb 10:26; Jas 5:15)

New International Version

16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that.

New International Reader’s Version

16 Suppose you see any brother or sister commit a sin. But this sin is not the kind that leads to death. Then you should pray, and God will give them life. I’m talking about someone whose sin does not lead to death. But there is a sin that does lead to death. I’m not saying you should pray about that sin.

King James Version

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
