10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (Ro 5:8; Ro 5:10; 1Jo 2:2; 1Jo 4:9) 

New International Version

10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 

New International Reader’s Version

10 Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
