8 Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. (Ro 14:17) 

New International Version

8 But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

8 But food doesn’t bring us close to God. We are no worse if we don’t eat. We are no better if we do eat.
