21 Were you a bondservant[1] when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.) 

New International Version

21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you – although if you can gain your freedom, do so. 

New International Reader’s Version

21 Were you a slave when God chose you? Don’t let it trouble you. But if you can get your master to set you free, do it. 

King James Version

21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
