1 Corinthians 14:5

English Standard Version

5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. (Nu 11:29)

New International Version

5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[1] but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,[2] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

New International Reader’s Version

5 I would like all of you to speak in other languages. But I would rather have you prophesy. The person who prophesies is more helpful than those who speak in other languages. But that is not the case if someone explains what was said in the other languages. Then the whole church can be built up.

King James Version

5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
