1 Chronicles 27:24

English Standard Version

24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to count, but did not finish. Yet wrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David. (2Sa 24:12; 1Ch 21:5; 1Ch 21:7)

New International Version

24 Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. God’s wrath came on Israel on account of this numbering, and the number was not entered in the book[1] of the annals of King David.

New International Reader’s Version

24 Joab, the son of Zeruiah, began to count the men. But he didn’t finish. The LORD was angry with Israel because David had begun to count the men. So the number wasn’t written down in the official records of King David.

King James Version

24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
