29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were appointed to external duties for Israel, as officers and judges. (De 16:18; 1Ch 23:4; Ne 11:16) 

New International Version

29 From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel. 

New International Reader’s Version

29 From the family line of Izhar came Kenaniah and his sons. They were given duties that were away from the temple. They were officials and judges over Israel. 

King James Version

29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.
