English Standard Version

24 But King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will buy them for the full price. I will not take for the Lord what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” 

New International Version

24 But King David replied to Araunah, ‘No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the Lord what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

24 But King David replied to Araunah, ‘No! I want to pay the full price. I won’t take what belongs to you and give it to the LORD. I won’t sacrifice a burnt offering that hasn’t cost me anything.’ 

King James Version

24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
