13 Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went. 

New International Version

13 He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went. 

New International Reader’s Version

13 Abishai stationed some soldiers in Edom. The whole nation of Edom was brought under his rule. The LORD helped David win his battles wherever he went. 

King James Version

13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David' servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
