22 Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in music, should direct the music, for he understood it. 

New International Version

22 Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skilful at it. 

New International Reader’s Version

22 Kenaniah was the leader of the Levites. He was in charge of the singing because he was good at it. 

King James Version

22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.
