48 Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates[1] reigned in his place. 

New International Version

48 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river[1] succeeded him as king. 

New International Reader’s Version

48 When Samlah died, Shaul became the next king. Shaul was from the town of Rehoboth. It was by a river. 

King James Version

48 And when Samlah was dead, Shaul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.
