Psalm 107 | New International Version

1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures for ever. 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story – those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, 3 those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.* 4 Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. 5 They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. 6 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 7 He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. 8 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, 9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. 10 Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, 11 because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High. 12 So he subjected them to bitter labour; they stumbled, and there was no-one to help. 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. 15 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, 16 for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. 17 Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. 19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. 22 Let them sacrifice thank-offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. 23 Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. 24 They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. 26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end. 28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea* were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders. 33 He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, 34 and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there. 35 He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; 36 there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; 38 he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish. 39 Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity and sorrow; 40 he who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste. 41 But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks. 42 The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths. 43 Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.

1 Mulțumiți DOMNULUI, căci este bun, căci în veac ține îndurarea Lui! 2 Așa să zică răscumpărații DOMNULUI, cei pe care i‑a răscumpărat din mâna vrăjmașului, 3 pe care i‑a adunat de pe cuprinsul țărilor: de la răsărit și de la apus, de la nord și de la mare. 4 Ei rătăceau prin pustie, pe o cale neumblată, fără să găsească o cetate în care să locuiască. 5 Flămânzi și însetați, li se lihnise sufletul în ei. 6 Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către DOMNUL, și El i‑a scăpat din necazurile lor. 7 I‑a călăuzit pe o cale dreaptă, ca să meargă spre o cetate unde să locuiască. 8 Să‑I mulțumească deci DOMNULUI pentru îndurarea Lui și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii omului! 9 Căci El a potolit sufletul însetat și a săturat sufletul flămând cu bunătăți. 10 Celor ce locuiau în întuneric și în umbra morții, legați în chin și în fiare, 11 pentru că se răzvrătiseră față de mesajele lui Dumnezeu și disprețuiseră sfatul Celui Preaînalt, 12 El le‑a smerit inima prin necaz; ei se clătinaseră și nu era nimeni să‑i ajute. 13 Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către DOMNUL, și El i‑a izbăvit din necazurile lor. 14 I‑a scos din întuneric și din umbra morții și le‑a rupt legăturile. 15 Să‑I mulțumească deci DOMNULUI pentru îndurarea Lui și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii omului! 16 Căci El a zdrobit porți de bronz și a tăiat zăvoare de fier. 17 Ei ajunseseră nebuni* din cauza fărădelegii lor și se nenorociseră din cauza nelegiuirilor lor. 18 Sufletul lor se dezgustase de orice hrană și ajunseseră la porțile morții. 19 Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către DOMNUL, și El i‑a izbăvit din necazurile lor. 20 Le‑a trimis Cuvântul Lui, i‑a vindecat și i‑a scăpat din gropile lor. 21 Să‑I mulțumească deci DOMNULUI pentru îndurarea Lui și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii omului! 22 Să aducă jertfe de mulțumire și să povestească lucrările Lui cu strigăte de bucurie! 23 Cei ce coborau pe mare cu corăbiile, cei ce făceau negoț pe ape mari, 24 au văzut ei înșiși lucrările DOMNULUI și minunile Lui din adâncuri. 25 Când a grăit El, s‑a iscat un vânt năprasnic, care a ridicat talazurile mării. 26 Se suiau spre ceruri și coborau în adâncuri; sufletul li se înmuiase din cauza nenorocirii. 27 Se clătinau și se mișcau ca un om beat; toată înțelepciunea lor fusese înghițită. 28 Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către DOMNUL, și El i‑a izbăvit din necazurile lor. 29 A liniștit furtuna, iar valurile s‑au potolit. 30 Ei s‑au bucurat că acestea s‑au liniștit, iar El i‑a condus la limanul dorit. 31 Să‑I mulțumească deci DOMNULUI pentru îndurarea Lui și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii omului! 32 Să‑L înalțe în adunarea poporului și să‑L laude în adunarea bătrânilor! 33 El preface râurile în pustiu, izvoarele de ape în pământ uscat, 34 și pământul roditor în pământ sterp, din cauza răutății locuitorilor țării. 35 El preface pustia într‑un iaz, și pământul uscat în izvoare de ape. 36 Așază acolo pe cei flămânzi, iar ei își întemeiază o cetate în care să locuiască, 37 își seamănă ogoare, își plantează vii și au recolte bogate. 38 El îi binecuvântează, astfel încât se înmulțesc foarte mult, iar vitele nu li le împuținează. 39 Când sunt împuținați și umiliți din cauza asupririi, a necazului și a durerii, 40 El revarsă dispreț asupra nobililor și‑i face să rătăcească prin pustietate fără drum. 41 Îi ridică însă pe cei nevoiași din întristare și le înmulțește familiile ca pe o turmă. 42 Cei drepți văd și se bucură, și orice nedreptate își închide gura. 43 Cine este înțelept, să păzească aceste lucruri și să ia aminte la marea îndurare a DOMNULUI!
