Bitte um Erbarmen

1 Ein Lied, zu singen auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem. Ich richte meinen Blick hinauf zu dir, zum Himmel hinauf, wo du thronst.

2 Aufmerksam blicken die Knechte auf die Hand ihres Hausherrn; aufmerksam schauen die Augen der Magd auf die Hand ihrer Herrin. So voll Erwartung blicken auch wir zu dir, HERR, unser Gott, bis du uns dein Erbarmen zeigst!

3 Erbarm dich, HERR, hab Erbarmen mit uns! Wir haben genug Verachtung erlebt,

4 viel zu viel hinunterschlucken müssen vom Spott unserer satten, sorglosen Feinde, vom Hohn vermessener Unterdrücker!

1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.

2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.

3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.

4 We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.
