1A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the nations have come into your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.2They have given the bodies of your servants to the birds of the heavens for food, the flesh of your faithful to the beasts of the earth.3They have poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.4We have become a taunt to our neighbors, mocked and derided by those around us.5How long, O Lord? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?6Pour out your anger on the nations that do not know you, and on the kingdoms that do not call upon your name!7For they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his habitation.8Do not remember against us our former iniquities;* let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low.9Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name’s sake!10Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants be known among the nations before our eyes!11Let the groans of the prisoners come before you; according to your great power, preserve those doomed to die!12Return sevenfold into the lap of our neighbors the taunts with which they have taunted you, O Lord!13But we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise.

1ای خدا، قومهای خدانشناس، سرزمين قوم برگزيدهٔ تو را تسخير نمودند؛ خانهٔ مقدس تو را بیحرمت كردند و شهر اورشليم را خراب نمودند.2جنازههای بندگانت را خوراک پرندگان و جانوران ساختند.3خون آنها را مانند آب در اطراف اورشليم جاری كردند؛ كسی باقی نماند تا آنها را دفن كند.4ای خدا، نزد قومهای اطراف رسوا و مايهٔ ريشخند شدهايم.5خداوندا، تا به كی بر ما خشمگين خواهی بود؟ آيا آتش خشم تو تا به ابد بر سر ما زبانه خواهد كشيد؟6خدايا، خشم خود را بر سرزمينها و قومهايی كه تو را نمیشناسند و عبادت نمیكنند، بريز.7همين قومها بودند كه دست به كشتار قوم تو زدند و خانههايشان را خراب نمودند.8ای خدا، ما را به سبب گناهانی كه اجدادمان مرتكب شدهاند مجازات نكن. بر ما رحم فرما، زيرا بسيار دردمنديم.9ای خدايی كه نجات دهندهٔ ما هستی، به خاطر حرمت نام خودت ما را ياری فرما؛ ما را نجات ده و گناهان ما را بيامرز.10چرا قومهای خدانشناس بگويند كه خدای ايشان كجاست؟ ای خدا، بگذار با چشمان خود ببينيم كه تو انتقام خون بندگانت را از دشمنان میگيری.11خداوندا، نالهٔ اسيران را بشنو و با دست توانای خود آنانی را كه محكوم به مرگ هستند، برهان.12از قومهای مجاور ما، به سبب بیحرمتیای كه نسبت به تو روا داشتهاند، هفت برابر شديدتر انتقام بگير.13آنگاه ما كه قوم برگزيده و گوسفندان گلهٔ تو هستيم، تو را تا به ابد شكر خواهيم گفت و تمام نسلهای آيندهٔ ما تو را ستايش خواهند كرد.
