Blessed Is Everyone Who Fears the Lord

1 A Song of Ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! 2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. 5 The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! 6 May you see your children’s children! Peace be upon Israel!

1 Ein Wallfahrtslied, gesungen auf dem Weg hinauf nach Jerusalem.* Glücklich zu preisen ist, wer dem HERRN in Ehrfurcht begegnet, wer auf den von Gott gezeigten Wegen geht. 2 So wirst du genießen dürfen, was du mit eigenen Händen erarbeitet hast. Zu beglückwünschen bist du – gut steht es um dich! 3 Deine Frau gleicht einem fruchtbaren Weinstock, dort im Schutz* deines Hauses; deine Kinder sind wie junge Olivenbaumpflanzen, wenn sie um deinen Tisch versammelt sitzen. 4 Ja, so wird der Mensch gesegnet, der dem HERRN in Ehrfurcht begegnet. 5 Es segne dich der HERR vom Berg Zion aus! Mögest du sehen, wie gut es Jerusalem geht, alle Tage deines Lebens! 6 Mögest du so lange leben, dass du noch die Kinder deiner Kinder sehen kannst! Friede komme über Israel!
