Die Worte Lemuels

1 Die Worte Lemuels, des Königs von Massa, die ihn seine Mutter gelehrt hat. (Spr 1,8; Spr 30,1) 2 Mein Sohn, was soll ich dich lehren, Sohn meines Leibes, Sohn meiner Gelübde? (1Sam 1,11) 3 Gib deine Kraft nicht den Frauen hin, und widme dich nicht der Vernichtung von Königen. (5Mo 17,17) 4 Könige, Lemuel, sollen keinen Wein trinken und Mächtige nicht nach Bier verlangen. (1Kön 20,12; Est 1,10; Pred 10,17) 5 Sonst trinken sie und vergessen die Satzung und beugen das Recht aller Elenden. (Jes 5,22) 6 Dem, der zugrunde geht, gebt Bier, und Wein denen, die verbittert sind. (Mk 15,23) 7 Sie sollen trinken und ihre Armut vergessen und nicht mehr an ihr Elend denken. (Ps 104,15) 8 Öffne deinen Mund für den Stummen, für das Recht aller Schwachen. (Hi 29,12) 9 Öffne deinen Mund, richte gerecht, und schaffe Recht dem, der elend ist und arm.

Die tüchtige Frau

10 Eine tüchtige Frau - wer findet sie? Ihr Wert ist weit höher als der von Perlen. (Spr 12,4; Spr 24,4) 11 Das Herz ihres Mannes vertraut auf sie, und an Einkommen fehlt es ihm nicht. 12 Sie tut ihm Gutes und nicht Böses alle Tage ihres Lebens. 13 Sie sorgt für Wolle und Flachs und arbeitet, was ihren Händen gefällt. 14 Sie gleicht den Schiffen eines Kaufmanns, von weit her bringt sie ihre Speisen. 15 Noch in der Nacht steht sie auf und versorgt ihr Haus mit Nahrung und weist ihren Mägden die Arbeit zu. (Lk 12,42) 16 Sie will einen Acker haben und nimmt ihn sich, vom Ertrag ihrer Hände pflanzt sie einen Weinberg. (Spr 14,1) 17 Sie gürtet ihre Hüften mit Kraft und macht ihre Arme stark. (Lk 12,35; 1Petr 1,13) 18 Sie sieht, dass ihr Handel Gewinn bringt, in der Nacht erlischt ihre Lampe nicht. 19 Mit ihren Händen greift sie nach dem Spinnrocken, und ihre Finger fassen die Spindel. (2Mo 35,25) 20 Ihre Hand öffnet sie für den Elenden, und dem Bedürftigen reicht sie ihre Hände. 21 Sie fürchtet nicht den Schnee für ihr Haus, denn ihr ganzes Haus ist gekleidet in Karmesin. 22 Decken hat sie für sich gemacht, aus feinem Leinen und rotem Purpur ist ihr Gewand. 23 Ihr Mann ist geachtet in den Toren, wenn er bei den Ältesten des Landes sitzt. (Spr 24,7) 24 Sie stellt Hemden her und verkauft sie, und an die Händler liefert sie Gürtel. 25 Kraft und Hoheit sind ihr Gewand, und dem kommenden Tag lacht sie entgegen. (Spr 12,4) 26 Sie öffnet ihren Mund mit Weisheit, und auf ihrer Zunge ist gütige Weisung. (Tit 2,3) 27 Das Tun und Treiben in ihrem Haus überwacht sie, und das Brot des Müssiggangs isst sie nicht. 28 Ihre Söhne stehen auf und preisen sie, auch ihr Mann erhebt sich und rühmt sie: 29 Es gibt viele Frauen, die sich als tüchtig erwiesen haben, du aber übertriffst sie alle. (Rut 3,11) 30 Anmut ist trügerisch und Schönheit flüchtig, aber eine Frau, die den HERRN fürchtet, darf sich rühmen. (Spr 11,22) 31 Gebt ihr Anteil vom Ertrag ihrer Hände, und ihre Werke sollen ihren Ruhm verkünden in den Toren!

1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him. 2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows? 3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: 5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. 6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. 7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. 8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. 9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. 10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants'ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it ; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also , and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
