36Bunun için RAB diyor ki, ‹‹İşte davanızı ben savunacağım, Öcünüzü ben alacağım; Onun ırmağını kurutacak, Kaynağını keseceğim.37Babil taş yığınına, çakal yuvasına dönecek, Dehşet ve alay konusu olacak. 41‹‹Şeşak[1] nasıl alındı! Bütün dünyanın övünç kaynağı nasıl ele geçirildi! Uluslar arasında Babil nasıl dehşet oldu!42Deniz basacak Babil'i, Kabaran dalgalar örtecek.43Kentleri viran olacak, Toprakları kimsenin yaşamadığı, geçmediği Kurak bir çöle dönecek.44Babil ilahı Bel'i orada cezalandıracak, Yuttuğunu ona kusturacağım. Artık akın akın uluslar gelmeyecek ona. Babil surları yıkılacak.45‹‹Oradan çık, ey halkım! Hepiniz canınızı kurtarın! Kaçın RAB'bin kızgın öfkesinden!46Ülkede duyacağınız söylentiler yüzünden Cesaretinizi yitirmeyin, korkmayın. Yeremya'nın Bildirisi Babil'e Ulaşıyor
59Yahuda Kralı Sidkiya'nın krallığının dördüncü yılında, baş görevli Mahseya oğlu Neriya oğlu Seraya Sidkiya'yla birlikte Babil'e gittiğinde Peygamber Yeremya ona şu buyruğu verdi.60Yeremya Babil'in başına gelecek bütün felaketleri, Babil'e ilişkin bütün bu sözleri bir tomara yazmıştı.61Yeremya Seraya'ya şöyle dedi: ‹‹Babil'e varır varmaz bütün bu sözleri okumayı unutma.62De ki, ‹Ya RAB, burayı yıkacağını, içinde insan da hayvan da yaşamayacağını, ülkenin sonsuza dek viran kalacağını söyledin.›63Okumayı bitirince tomarı bir taşa bağlayıp Fırat'a fırlat.64Sonra de ki, ‹Babil başına getireceğim felaket yüzünden batacak, bir daha kalkamayacak. 1Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will stir up the spirit of a destroyer against Babylon, against the inhabitants of Leb-kamai,[1] (Yşa 21:1; Yer 4:11)2and I will send to Babylon winnowers, and they shall winnow her, and they shall empty her land, when they come against her from every side on the day of trouble. (Yer 2:28; Yer 15:7; Mat 3:12)3Let not the archer bend his bow, and let him not stand up in his armor. Spare not her young men; devote to destruction[2] all her army. (Yer 50:14; Yer 50:21; Yer 50:29)4They shall fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and wounded in her streets. (Yer 49:26)5For Israel and Judah have not been forsaken by their God, the Lord of hosts, but the land of the Chaldeans[3] is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel. (Yşa 59:18; Yer 50:15)57I will make drunk her officials and her wise men, her governors, her commanders, and her warriors; they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake, declares the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts. (Yer 46:18; Yer 51:23; Yer 51:28; Yer 51:39)58“Thus says the Lord of hosts: The broad wall of Babylon shall be leveled to the ground, and her high gates shall be burned with fire. The peoples labor for nothing, and the nations weary themselves only for fire.” (Yşa 45:2; Yer 50:15; Yer 51:44; Yer 51:64; Hab 2:13)59The word that Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah king of Judah to Babylon, in the fourth year of his reign. Seraiah was the quartermaster. (Yer 28:1; Yer 32:12)60Jeremiah wrote in a book all the disaster that should come upon Babylon, all these words that are written concerning Babylon. (Yer 36:2; Yer 50:1; Yer 51:1)61And Jeremiah said to Seraiah: “When you come to Babylon, see that you read all these words,62and say, ‘O Lord, you have said concerning this place that you will cut it off, so that nothing shall dwell in it, neither man nor beast, and it shall be desolate forever.’ (Yer 50:3; Yer 51:26)63When you finish reading this book, tie a stone to it and cast it into the midst of the Euphrates, (Yer 19:10; Va 18:21)64and say, ‘Thus shall Babylon sink, to rise no more, because of the disaster that I am bringing upon her, and they shall become exhausted.’” Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
