1 Yusufoğulları boylarından Manaşşe oğlu Makir oğlu Gilat'ın boyunun aile başları gelip Musa'ya ve İsrail'in aile başı olan önderlerine şöyle dediler: (Say 27:1) 2 ‹‹RAB ülkeyi mülk olarak kurayla İsrailliler arasında paylaştırması için efendimiz Musa'ya buyruk verdi. Kardeşimiz Selofhat'ın mirasının kızlarına verilmesi için de buyruk verildi. 3 Eğer Selofhat'ın kızları başka bir İsrail oymağına bağlı erkeklerle evlenirlerse, mirasları bizim ailelerimizden alınıp kocalarının bağlı oldukları oymağın mirasına eklenecek. Böylece kurayla bize düşen pay eksilecek. 4 İsrailliler'in özgürlük yılı kutlandığında, kızların mirası kocalarının bağlı olduğu oymağa eklenecek. Böylece onların mirası atalarımızın oymağına düşen mirastan alınacak.›› 5 Musa, RAB'bin buyruğu uyarınca, İsrailliler'e şöyle buyurdu: ‹‹Yusuf soyundan gelenlerin söyledikleri doğrudur. 6 RAB Selofhat'ın kızları için şöyle diyor: Selofhat'ın kızları babalarının bağlı olduğu oymak ve boydan herhangi bir erkekle evlenmekte özgürdürler. 7 İsrail'de miras bir oymaktan öbür oymağa geçmeyecek. Her İsrailli atalarının bağlı olduğu oymağın mirasına bağlı kalacak. 8 Herhangi bir İsrail oymağında miras alan kız, babasının bağlı olduğu oymak ve boydan biriyle evlenmelidir. Öyle ki, her İsrailli atalarının mirasını sahiplenebilsin. 9 Miras bir oymaktan öbür oymağa geçmeyecek. Her İsrail oymağı aldığı mirasa bağlı kalacak.›› 10-11 Selofhat'ın kızları Mahla, Tirsa, Hogla, Milka, Noa, RAB'bin Musa'ya verdiği buyruk uyarınca davranarak amcalarının oğullarıyla evlendiler. 12 Böylece Yusuf oğlu Manaşşe boylarından erkeklerle evlendiler, dolayısıyla mirasları da babalarının bağlı olduğu boy ve oymakta kaldı. 13 RAB'bin Musa aracılığıyla Şeria Irmağı yanında Eriha karşısındaki Moav ovalarında İsrailliler'e verdiği buyruklar ve ilkeler bunlardı.

1 The heads of the fathers’ houses of the clan of the people of Gilead the son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of the people of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the chiefs, the heads of the fathers’ houses of the people of Israel. (Say 26:29) 2 They said, “The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the people of Israel, and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. (Say 26:55; Say 27:1; Say 27:7; Say 33:54; Yşu 17:3) 3 But if they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the people of Israel, then their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry. So it will be taken away from the lot of our inheritance. 4 And when the jubilee of the people of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry, and their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.” (Lev 25:10) 5 And Moses commanded the people of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, “The tribe of the people of Joseph is right. (Say 27:7) 6 This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Let them marry whom they think best, only they shall marry within the clan of the tribe of their father. (Say 36:12) 7 The inheritance of the people of Israel shall not be transferred from one tribe to another, for every one of the people of Israel shall hold on to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. (1 Kr 21:3) 8 And every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the people of Israel shall be wife to one of the clan of the tribe of her father, so that every one of the people of Israel may possess the inheritance of his fathers. (1 Ta 23:22) 9 So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another, for each of the tribes of the people of Israel shall hold on to its own inheritance.’” 10 The daughters of Zelophehad did as the Lord commanded Moses, 11 for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to sons of their father’s brothers. (Say 27:1; Yşu 17:3) 12 They were married into the clans of the people of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father’s clan. 13 These are the commandments and the rules that the Lord commanded through Moses to the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. (Say 22:1)
