Ankündigung des nahenden Gerichtes über Juda

1 Das Wort des HERRN, das an Zephanja^[1] erging, den Sohn Kuschis, des Sohnes Gedaljas, des Sohnes Amarjas, des Sohnes Hiskias, in den Tagen Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda: (2Kön 22,1; Jer 1,2) 2 Ich will alles vom Erdboden gänzlich wegraffen!, spricht der HERR. (2Chr 34,24; Kla 2,17; Zef 1,18) 3 Ich will wegraffen Menschen und Vieh, ich will wegraffen die Vögel des Himmels und die Fische im Meer und die Ärgernisse mitsamt den Gottlosen; und ich will die Menschen vom Erdboden vertilgen!, spricht der HERR. 4 Und ich will meine Hand ausstrecken gegen Juda und gegen alle Bewohner von Jerusalem und will von diesem Ort den Überrest des Baal[-Kultes] ausrotten, den Namen der Götzendiener samt den Priestern; (2Kön 23,4) 5 auch die, welche auf den Dächern das Heer des Himmels anbeten, samt denen, die den HERRN anbeten und bei ihm schwören, zugleich aber auch bei ihrem König^[2] schwören; (2Kön 23,12; Jes 22,1; Jes 48,1; Am 5,26; Mt 5,33)

7 Seid still vor dem Angesicht GOTTES, des Herrn! Denn nahe ist der Tag des HERRN; denn der HERR hat ein Schlachtopfer zubereitet, er hat seine Geladenen geheiligt. (Jes 34,6; Jes 63,1; Hes 39,17; Joe 1,15; Hab 2,20; Hab 3,16; Zef 1,14; Sach 2,17; Offb 19,17)

8 Und es wird geschehen am Tag des Schlachtopfers des HERRN, dass ich die Fürsten und die Königssöhne strafen werde und alle, die sich in fremde Gewänder hüllen; (Jer 39,6) 9 auch werde ich an jenem Tag alle diejenigen strafen, welche über die Schwelle springen,^[3] die das Haus ihres Herrn mit Frevel und Betrug erfüllen. (Mi 6,12) 10 An jenem Tag, spricht der HERR, wird ein Geschrei vom Fischtor her erschallen und ein Geheul vom zweiten Stadtteil her und ein großes Krachen von den Hügeln her. (2Kön 22,14; Neh 3,3) 11 Heult, die ihr im Maktesch wohnt! Denn das ganze Krämervolk ist vernichtet, alle Geldabwäger sind ausgerottet. 12 Und es wird geschehen, dass ich zu jener Zeit Jerusalem mit Leuchten durchsuchen werde;^[4] und ich will die Leute heimsuchen, die auf ihren Hefen liegen^[5], indem sie in ihrem Herzen sagen: »Der HERR wird weder Gutes noch Böses tun!« (Ps 10,11; Ps 10,13; Ps 94,7; Pred 8,11; Jer 48,11; Hos 7,8; Am 6,1; Am 9,2; Ob 1,6)

13 Ihr Vermögen soll der Plünderung anheimfallen und ihre Häuser der Verwüstung; sie werden Häuser bauen und nicht darin wohnen, Weinberge pflanzen und keinen Wein davon trinken. (5Mo 28,39; Kla 1,10; Hes 7,21; Hes 7,24; Am 5,11)

Der große Tag des Herrn

14 Nahe ist der große Tag des HERRN; er ist nahe, und sehr rasch kommt er herbei! Horch, der Tag des HERRN! Bitter schreit dort auf der Held. (Jer 46,5; Joe 2,1; Hab 2,3; Zef 1,7; 1Kor 16,22; 1Thess 5,2; Jak 5,8; 2Petr 3,12; Offb 6,15)

15 Ein Tag des Zorns ist dieser Tag, ein Tag der Angst und der Bedrängnis, ein Tag des Ruins und der Zerstörung, ein Tag der Finsternis und des Dunkels, ein Tag des Gewölks und des Wolkendunkels, (Jes 22,5; Jer 30,7; Joe 2,2) 16 ein Tag des Schopharschalls und des Alarmblasens gegen die festen Städte und gegen die hohen Zinnen. 18 Weder ihr Silber noch ihr Gold wird sie retten können am Tag des Zornes des HERRN, und durch das Feuer seines Eifers soll das ganze Land verzehrt werden; denn eine Vernichtung, einen plötzlichen Untergang wird er allen Bewohnern des Landes bereiten. 1 The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah. 2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD. 3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD. 4 I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests; 5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; 6 And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him. 7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. 8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD' sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king' children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel. 9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters'houses with violence and deceit. 10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills. 11 Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off. 12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil. 13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them ; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof. 14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD' wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
