Jesus heilt am Sabbat einen Kranken beim Teich Bethesda

1 Danach war ein Fest der Juden, und Jesus zog hinauf nach Jerusalem. (Ps 122,1) 2 Es ist aber in Jerusalem beim Schaftor ein Teich, der auf Hebräisch Bethesda heißt und der fünf Säulenhallen hat. (Neh 3,1; Neh 3,32; Neh 12,39) 3 In diesen lag eine große Menge von Kranken, Blinden, Lahmen und Abgezehrten, welche auf die Bewegung des Wassers warteten. (Spr 8,34; Kla 3,26; Jak 5,7) 4 Denn ein Engel stieg zu gewissen Zeiten in den Teich hinab und bewegte das Wasser. Wer nun nach der Bewegung des Wassers zuerst hineinstieg, der wurde gesund, mit welcher Krankheit er auch geplagt war. (Hebr 1,7; Hebr 1,14) 5 Es war aber ein Mensch dort, der 38 Jahre in der Krankheit zugebracht hatte. (Lk 8,43; Lk 13,10; Apg 3,2; Apg 4,22)

6 Als Jesus diesen daliegen sah und erfuhr, dass er schon so lange Zeit [in diesem Zustand] war, spricht er zu ihm: Willst du gesund werden? (Hos 7,1; Hos 7,13) 7 Der Kranke antwortete ihm: Herr, ich habe keinen Menschen, der mich in den Teich bringt, wenn das Wasser bewegt wird; während ich aber selbst gehe, steigt ein anderer vor mir hinab. (Ps 142,5) 8 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Steh auf, nimm deine Liegematte^[1] und geh umher! (Mt 9,6) 9 Und sogleich wurde der Mensch gesund, hob seine Liegematte auf und ging umher. Es war aber Sabbat an jenem Tag. 10 Nun sprachen die Juden zu dem Geheilten: Es ist Sabbat; es ist dir nicht erlaubt, die Liegematte zu tragen! (Mt 23,4; Joh 9,14) 11 Er antwortete ihnen: Der mich gesund machte, der sprach zu mir: Nimm deine Liegematte und geh umher! (Mk 2,9; Joh 9,7) 12 Da fragten sie ihn: Wer ist der Mensch, der zu dir gesagt hat: Nimm deine Liegematte und geh umher? 13 Aber der Geheilte wusste nicht, wer es war, denn Jesus war weggegangen, weil so viel Volk an dem Ort war. (Joh 10,12) 14 Danach findet ihn Jesus im Tempel und spricht zu ihm: Siehe, du bist gesund geworden; sündige hinfort nicht mehr, damit dir nicht etwas Schlimmeres widerfährt! (Ps 116,12; Ps 116,18; Lk 11,26; Joh 8,11; 2Petr 2,21)

15 Da ging der Mensch hin und verkündete den Juden, dass es Jesus war, der ihn gesund gemacht hatte. 16 Und deshalb verfolgten die Juden Jesus und suchten ihn zu töten, weil er dies am Sabbat getan hatte. (Mt 12,14)

Jesus offenbart sich als der Sohn Gottes

17 Jesus aber antwortete ihnen: Mein Vater wirkt bis jetzt, und ich wirke auch. (Joh 9,4; Joh 14,10) 18 Darum suchten die Juden nun noch mehr, ihn zu töten, weil er nicht nur den Sabbat brach, sondern auch Gott seinen eigenen Vater nannte, womit er sich selbst Gott gleich machte. (Lk 1,35; Joh 10,30; Phil 2,6) 19 Da antwortete Jesus und sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Der Sohn kann nichts von sich selbst aus tun, sondern nur, was er den Vater tun sieht; denn was dieser tut, das tut gleicherweise auch der Sohn. 20 Denn der Vater liebt den Sohn und zeigt ihm alles, was er selbst tut; und er wird ihm noch größere Werke zeigen als diese, sodass ihr euch verwundern werdet. (Joh 3,35) 21 Denn wie der Vater die Toten auferweckt und lebendig macht, so macht auch der Sohn lebendig, welche er will. 23 damit alle den Sohn ehren, wie sie den Vater ehren. Wer den Sohn nicht ehrt, der ehrt den Vater nicht, der ihn gesandt hat. 27 Und er hat ihm Vollmacht gegeben, auch Gericht zu halten, weil er der Sohn des Menschen ist. (Dan 7,13; Joh 5,22) 28 Verwundert euch nicht darüber! Der Vater legt Zeugnis ab von seinem Sohn

31 Wenn ich von mir selbst Zeugnis ablege, so ist mein Zeugnis nicht glaubwürdig^[2]. (5Mo 19,15; Spr 27,2; 2Kor 13,1; 1Tim 5,19)

32 Ein anderer ist es, der von mir Zeugnis ablegt; und ich weiß, dass das Zeugnis glaubwürdig ist, das er von mir bezeugt. 38 und sein Wort habt ihr nicht bleibend in euch, weil ihr dem nicht glaubt, den er gesandt hat. 40 Und doch wollt ihr nicht zu mir kommen, um das Leben zu empfangen. 44 Wie könnt ihr glauben, die ihr Ehre voneinander nehmt und die Ehre von dem alleinigen Gott nicht sucht? 45 Denkt nicht, dass ich euch bei dem Vater anklagen werde.
