Die Leviten und ihre Dienstordnung

1 So machte David, als er alt und lebenssatt geworden war, seinen Sohn Salomo zum König über Israel. (1Mo 24,36; 1Chr 28,5) 2 Und er versammelte alle Obersten in Israel und die Priester und Leviten. (1Chr 13,1; 1Chr 28,1) 3 Die Leviten aber wurden gezählt, von 30 Jahren an und darüber. Und ihre Zahl, Haupt für Haupt, betrug 38 000 Mann. 6 Und David teilte sie in Abteilungen, nach den Söhnen Levis: Gerson, Kahat und Merari. (2Mo 6,16; 4Mo 3,1; 2Chr 8,14) 7 Von den Gersonitern: Laedan und Simei. (1Chr 6,2; 1Chr 6,5; 1Chr 26,21) 8 Die Söhne Laedans: Jechiel, das Oberhaupt, Setam und Joel, [insgesamt] drei. Das waren die Familienhäupter von Laedan. 10 Und die Söhne Simeis waren: Jahat, Sina, Jeusch und Berija; diese vier waren Söhne Simeis. (1Chr 23,11) 11 Jahat war das Oberhaupt, Sina der zweite. Aber Jeusch und Berija hatten nicht viele Söhne, darum wurden sie als ein einziges Vaterhaus gerechnet. (1Chr 23,10) 12 Die Söhne Kahats waren: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Ussiel, [insgesamt] vier. (2Mo 6,18; 2Mo 6,20) 13 Die Söhne Amrams waren: Aaron und Mose. Aaron aber wurde ausgesondert, dass er als hochheilig geheiligt würde, er und seine Söhne, auf ewig, um vor dem HERRN zu räuchern, ihm zu dienen und in seinem Namen zu segnen ewiglich. 14 Und was Mose, den Mann Gottes, betrifft, so wurden seine Söhne zum Stamm Levi gerechnet. (5Mo 33,1; 2Chr 30,16) 15 Die Söhne Moses aber waren: Gerson und Elieser. (2Mo 18,1) 16 Die Söhne Gersons: Sebuel, das Oberhaupt. (1Chr 24,20; 1Chr 26,24) 17 Die Söhne Eliesers: Rechabja, das Oberhaupt. Und Elieser hatte keine anderen Söhne. 22 Eleasar aber starb und hatte keine Söhne, sondern nur Töchter; und die Söhne des Kis, ihre Vettern, nahmen sie als Ehefrauen. (1Chr 24,28) 23 Die Söhne Muschis waren: Machli, Eder und Jeremot, [insgesamt] drei. (1Chr 24,30) 24 Das sind die Söhne Levis nach den Häusern ihrer Väter, die Familienhäupter, so wie sie gemustert wurden nach der Zahl der Namen, nach der Kopfzahl, von 20 Jahren an und darüber, die das Werk des Dienstes am Haus des HERRN verrichteten. (4Mo 4,3; 4Mo 8,24; Esr 3,8) 25 Denn David sprach: »Der HERR, der Gott Israels, hat seinem Volk Ruhe gegeben, und er wird auf ewig in Jerusalem wohnen. (1Chr 22,18; Ps 132,14) 26 So haben nun die Leviten die Wohnung mit allen Geräten, die zu ihrem Dienst gehören, nicht mehr zu tragen (4Mo 7,9; 2Sam 6,13; 1Chr 15,15; Jes 3,14)

27 (nach den letzten Anordnungen Davids waren die Söhne Levis nämlich von 20 Jahren und darüber gezählt worden), (1Chr 23,3; 1Chr 23,24) 28 sondern ihr Platz ist an der Seite der Söhne Aarons im Dienst am Haus des HERRN: zur Aufsicht über die Vorhöfe und über die Kammern und zur Reinigung des ganzen Heiligtums und zur Verrichtung des Dienstes am Haus Gottes; (4Mo 18,2) 29 auch sollen sie nach dem Schaubrot, nach dem Feinmehl zum Speisopfer, nach den ungesäuerten Fladen, nach dem Pfannengebäck, nach dem Rührgebäck und nach allem Hohl- und Längenmaß sehen; (3Mo 2,4; 3Mo 19,35; 3Mo 24,5) 30 und sie sollen alle Morgen antreten, um dem HERRN zu danken und ihn zu loben, ebenso auch am Abend; (1Chr 25,6; 2Chr 29,25; Hi 35,10; Ps 57,9; Ps 92,2; Ps 134,1; Eph 5,19)

31 auch haben sie dem HERRN alle Brandopfer zu opfern, an den Sabbaten, Neumonden und Festen, in der erforderlichen Zahl und nach der Vorschrift, beständig vor dem HERRN. (4Mo 28,1) 32 So sollen sie besorgen, was es an der Stiftshütte und am Heiligtum zu besorgen gibt, und die Aufträge der Söhne Aarons, ihrer Brüder, im Dienst am Haus des HERRN.« (4Mo 1,50)

1 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel. 2 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. 3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. 4 Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges: 5 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David , to praise therewith . 6 And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely , Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. 7 Of the Gershonites were , Laadan, and Shimei. 8 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three. 9 The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan. 10 And the sons of Shimei were , Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei. 11 And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father' house. 12 The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. 13 The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever. 14 Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi. 15 The sons of Moses were , Gershom, and Eliezer. 16 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief. 17 And the sons of Eliezer were , Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. 18 Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief. 19 Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. 20 Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second. 21 The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish. 22 And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them. 23 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three. 24 These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward. 25 For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever: 26 And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof. 27 For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above: 28 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God; 29 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size; 30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even; 31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD: 32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place , and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
