Die Gefangennahme Jesu
2Aber auch Judas, der ihn verriet, kannte den Ort; denn Jesus versammelte sich oft dort mit seinen Jüngern. (Lk 21,37)3Nachdem nun Judas die Truppe und von den obersten Priestern und Pharisäern Diener bekommen hatte, kam er dorthin mit Fackeln und Lampen und mit Waffen. Jesus vor Hannas und Kajaphas. Die Verleugnung des Petrus
12Die Truppe nun und ihr Befehlshaber und die Diener der Juden ergriffen Jesus und banden ihn, (1Mo 22,9; Ps 118,27)13und sie führten ihn zuerst ab zu Hannas; denn er war der Schwiegervater des Kajaphas, welcher in jenem Jahr Hoherpriester war. (Lk 3,2)14Das war der Kajaphas, der den Juden geraten hatte, es sei besser, dass ein Mensch für das Volk umkomme. (Joh 11,49)15Simon Petrus aber folgte Jesus nach, und der andere Jünger. Jesus vor Pilatus
28Sie führten nun Jesus von Kajaphas in das Prätorium. Es war aber noch früh. Und sie selbst betraten das Prätorium nicht, damit sie nicht unrein würden, sondern das Passah essen könnten. (Mt 23,24; Mt 27,2; Mt 27,27; Apg 10,28)29Da ging Pilatus zu ihnen hinaus und fragte: Was für eine Anklage erhebt ihr gegen diesen Menschen? Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
1When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Jesus Faces Annas and Caiaphas
12So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews[4] arrested Jesus and bound him.13First they led him to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. (Mt 26,3; Mt 26,57; Lk 3,2; Joh 18,24; Joh 18,28; Apg 4,6)14It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people. (Joh 11,50)
Peter Denies Jesus
15Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, (Mt 26,58; Mk 14,54; Lk 22,54)16but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. (Mt 26,69; Mk 14,66; Lk 22,55)17The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” (Apg 12,13)18Now the servants[5] and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. The High Priest Questions Jesus
19The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. (Mt 26,59; Mk 14,55; Lk 22,63)20Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. (Jes 45,19; Jes 48,16; Mt 26,55; Joh 7,4; Joh 7,26; Joh 8,26)21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.”22When he had said these things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?” (Apg 23,4)23Jesus answered him, “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”24Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. Peter Denies Jesus Again
25Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” (Mt 26,71; Mk 14,69; Lk 22,58)26One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you in the garden with him?” (Joh 18,1; Joh 18,10)27Peter again denied it, and at once a rooster crowed. Jesus Before Pilate
28Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters.[6] It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor’s headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.
