1 Und das Wort des HERRN erging an mich folgendermaßen: 2 Menschensohn, was hat das Holz des Weinstocks voraus vor allem anderen Holz, [das Holz] der Ranke, die sich unter den Bäumen des Waldes befindet? (Ps 80,9; Jes 5,7; Jer 2,21; Hes 15,6) 3 Nimmt man etwa Holz davon, um es zu einer Arbeit zu verwenden? Nimmt man etwa davon einen Pflock, um irgendein Gerät daranzuhängen? (Jes 22,23; Jer 13,10) 4 Siehe, man wirft es ins Feuer, damit es verzehrt wird! Wenn das Feuer seine beiden Enden verzehrt hat und es in der Mitte angebrannt ist, taugt es dann noch zur Verarbeitung? (Joh 15,6) 5 Siehe, als es noch unversehrt war, konnte man nichts daraus machen; wenn es nun vom Feuer verzehrt und versengt ist, kann es erst recht nicht mehr verarbeitet werden! 6 Darum, so spricht GOTT, der Herr: Wie ich das Holz des Weinstocks unter den Bäumen des Waldes dem Feuer zur Nahrung bestimmt habe, so habe ich auch die Einwohner Jerusalems dahingegeben. (Jes 5,24; Jes 27,11; Jes 50,11) 7 Und ich will mein Angesicht gegen sie richten; sie sind zwar dem Feuer entgangen; aber das Feuer soll sie doch verzehren! Dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich mein Angesicht gegen sie richte. (Ps 9,17; Jes 24,18; Hes 14,8; Hes 16,62; Am 5,19) 8 Und ich will das Land zur Wüste machen, weil sie so treulos gehandelt haben, spricht GOTT, der Herr. (Hes 6,14; Hes 33,29)

1 And the word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, how does the wood of the vine surpass any wood, the vine branch that is among the trees of the forest? (Hes 2,1; Hes 15,6) 3 Is wood taken from it to make anything? Do people take a peg from it to hang any vessel on it? (Jes 22,23) 4 Behold, it is given to the fire for fuel. When the fire has consumed both ends of it, and the middle of it is charred, is it useful for anything? (Joh 15,6) 5 Behold, when it was whole, it was used for nothing. How much less, when the fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it ever be used for anything! (Hes 15,3) 6 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem. (Ps 80,8; Jes 5,1; Hes 15,4; Hes 17,6; Hes 19,10) 7 And I will set my face against them. Though they escape from the fire, the fire shall yet consume them, and you will know that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them. (2Kön 25,9; Hes 6,7; Hes 14,8) 8 And I will make the land desolate, because they have acted faithlessly, declares the Lord God.” (Hes 6,14; Hes 14,13)
