1Als wir uns aber umwandten und auf den Weg nach Baschan hinaufzogen, rückte Og, der König von Baschan, uns entgegen, er und sein ganzes Volk, um bei Edrei zu kämpfen. (4Mo 21,33; 5Mo 1,4; Jos 12,4)2Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihm! Denn ich habe ihn und sein ganzes Volk samt seinem Land in deine Hand gegeben, und du sollst mit ihm verfahren, wie du mit Sihon, dem König der Amoriter, verfahren bist, der in Hesbon wohnte! (5Mo 2,31; 5Mo 7,17)3So gab der HERR, unser Gott, auch den König Og von Baschan in unsere Hand samt seinem ganzen Volk; und wir schlugen ihn, bis ihm keiner übrig blieb, der entkommen wäre. (4Mo 21,24; 4Mo 21,35; Ps 136,20)4Und wir nahmen zu jener Zeit alle seine Städte ein; es gab keine Stadt, die wir ihnen nicht abgenommen hätten; 60 Städte, die ganze Gegend Argob, das Königreich Ogs von Baschan. (Jos 13,30; Jos 24,12)5Alle diese Städte waren befestigt, mit hohen Mauern, Toren und Riegeln versehen; außerdem hatte es sehr viele andere Städte ohne Mauern. (4Mo 13,28; 5Mo 1,28)6Und wir vollstreckten an ihnen den Bann, wie wir es mit Sihon, dem König von Hesbon, gemacht hatten; an allen Städten vollstreckten wir den Bann, an Männern, Frauen und Kindern. (3Mo 27,28; 5Mo 2,24; 5Mo 2,34; 5Mo 3,2; Ps 135,10; Ps 136,19)7Aber alles Vieh und das Beutegut aller Städte erbeuteten wir für uns. (Jos 11,11)8So nahmen wir zu der Zeit das Land aus der Hand der zwei Könige der Amoriter, die jenseits des Jordan waren, vom Arnonfluss bis an den Berg Hermon (5Mo 4,47; Jos 11,3; Ps 42,7)9(die Zidonier nennen den Hermon Sirjon, und die Amoriter nennen ihn Senir), (1Chr 5,23; Ps 29,6; Hl 4,8; Hes 27,5)10alle Städte der Ebene und ganz Gilead und ganz Baschan, bis nach Salcha und Edrei, die Städte des Königreichs Ogs von Baschan. (Jos 12,5; Jos 13,17)11(Denn nur Og, der König von Baschan, war von dem Überrest der Rephaiter übrig geblieben. Siehe, sein Bett, ein eisernes Bett, ist es nicht in Rabba, [der Stadt] der Ammoniter? Die Verteilung des Ostjordanlandes an Ruben, Gad und den halben Stamm Manasse
12Dieses Land nahmen wir zu jener Zeit in Besitz, von Aroer an, das am Arnonfluss liegt. Und ich gab das halbe Bergland Gilead samt seinen Städten den Rubenitern und Gaditern. (Jos 12,1; Jos 13,8)13Aber das übrige Gilead und ganz Baschan, das Königreich Ogs, gab ich dem halben Stamm Manasse. (Die ganze Gegend Argob, das ganze Baschan wurde »das Land der Rephaiter« genannt. (4Mo 32,39; Jos 13,29; 1Chr 5,23)14Jair, der Sohn Manasses, nahm die ganze Gegend Argob ein, bis an die Grenze der Geschuriter und der Maachatiter, und nannte sie [nämlich die Gegend] Baschan, »Dörfer Jairs«, wie sie bis zum heutigen Tag heißen.) (4Mo 32,41; Jos 12,5; Jos 13,11; 2Sam 10,6; 1Chr 2,22)15Dem Machir aber gab ich Gilead. (4Mo 32,39)16Und den Rubenitern und Gaditern gab ich [das Land] von Gilead bis an den Arnonfluss, der mitten im Tal die Grenze bildet, und bis an den Jabbok, den Grenzfluss der Ammoniter, (Jos 12,2; Jos 13,8)17dazu die Arava und den Jordan, der die Grenze bildet vom [See] Genezareth bis an das Meer der Arava, nämlich das Salzmeer, unterhalb der Abhänge des Pisga, der östlich davon liegt. (4Mo 34,11; 5Mo 4,49; 5Mo 34,1; Jos 12,3)18Und ich gebot euch zu der Zeit und sprach: Der HERR, euer Gott, hat euch dieses Land gegeben, damit ihr es in Besitz nehmt; so zieht nun gerüstet vor euren Brüdern, den Söhnen Israels, her, alle kriegstauglichen Männer. (4Mo 32,20)19Nur eure Frauen und Kinder und euer Vieh — denn ich weiß, dass ihr viel Vieh habt —, sie sollen in den Städten bleiben, die ich euch gegeben habe, (4Mo 32,16; Jos 1,14)20bis der HERR auch eure Brüder zur Ruhe bringt wie euch, bis auch sie das Land in Besitz nehmen, das ihnen der HERR, euer Gott, jenseits des Jordan gibt; und dann sollt ihr zurückkehren, jeder zu seinem Besitztum, das ich euch gegeben habe! (Jos 22,4)
Gott verwehrt Mose den Eintritt ins verheißene Land
21Und Josua gebot ich zu jener Zeit und sprach: Deine Augen haben alles gesehen, was der HERR, euer Gott, an diesen beiden Königen getan hat; so wird der HERR an allen Königreichen handeln, zu denen du hinüberziehst. (4Mo 27,18; 5Mo 7,17)22Fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen; denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist es, der für euch kämpft! (2Mo 14,14; Jos 10,42; 2Chr 20,17)23Und ich flehte zum HERRN zu jener Zeit und sprach:24Ach, Herr, HERR, du hast angefangen, deinem Knecht deine Majestät und deine starke Hand zu zeigen; denn wo ist ein Gott im Himmel und auf Erden, der es deinen Werken und deiner Macht gleichtun könnte? (2Mo 15,11; 5Mo 11,2; 2Sam 7,22; Ps 71,19)25Lass mich doch hinüberziehen und das gute Land jenseits des Jordan sehen, dieses gute Bergland und den Libanon! (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 20,6)26Aber der HERR war zornig über mich um euretwillen und erhörte mich nicht, sondern der HERR sprach zu mir: Lass es genug sein! Sage mir kein Wort mehr in dieser Sache! (4Mo 20,12; 1Chr 22,8; Ps 106,32; 2Kor 12,8)27Steige auf den Gipfel des Pisga und hebe deine Augen auf gegen Westen und gegen Norden und gegen Süden und gegen Osten, und schaue mit deinen Augen; denn du wirst nicht über diesen Jordan gehen. (5Mo 32,49)28Und gebiete dem Josua, stärke ihn und festige ihn, denn er soll vor diesem Volk hinüberziehen; und er soll ihnen das Land, das du sehen wirst, als Erbe austeilen! 1“Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. And Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’ (4Mo 21,23; 4Mo 21,34)3So the Lord our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, and we struck him down until he had no survivor left. (4Mo 21,35)4And we took all his cities at that time—there was not a city that we did not take from them—sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. (1Kön 4,13)5All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages.6And we devoted them to destruction,[1] as we did to Sihon the king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every city, men, women, and children. (4Mo 32,32; 5Mo 2,36; Jos 13,8)13The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All that portion of Bashan is called the land of Rephaim. (4Mo 32,39; 5Mo 3,11; Jos 13,29; 1Kön 4,13)14Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) (4Mo 32,20; Jos 1,14; Jos 4,12)19Only your wives, your little ones, and your livestock (I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in the cities that I have given you, (4Mo 32,1; 4Mo 32,4)20until the Lord gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also occupy the land that the Lord your God gives them beyond the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession which I have given you.’ (Jos 22,4)21And I commanded Joshua at that time, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. So will the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which you are crossing. (4Mo 27,18)22You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.’ (2Mo 14,14)
Moses Forbidden to Enter the Land
23“And I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying,24‘O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours? (2Mo 15,11; 5Mo 5,24; 5Mo 11,2; 5Mo 32,3; 1Chr 29,11)25Please let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.’ (2Mo 3,8; 5Mo 4,22; Jos 1,4)26But the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. And the Lord said to me, ‘Enough from you; do not speak to me of this matter again. (5Mo 1,37; 2Kor 12,9)27Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward, and look at it with your eyes, for you shall not go over this Jordan. (4Mo 27,12)28But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall go over at the head of this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land that you shall see.’ (4Mo 27,23; 5Mo 1,38; 5Mo 31,3; 5Mo 31,7)29So we remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
