König Manasse von Juda und seine gottlose Regierung

1 Manasse war 12 Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 55 Jahre lang in Jerusalem. (2Kön 21,1; 1Chr 3,13; Pred 10,16; Jes 3,4; Jes 3,12)

2 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, nach den Gräueln der Heidenvölker, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israels vertrieben hatte. (3Mo 18,24; 5Mo 12,31; 5Mo 18,9) 3 Er baute die Höhen wieder auf, die sein Vater Hiskia abgebrochen hatte, und errichtete den Baalen Altäre und machte Aschera- Standbilder und betete das ganze Heer des Himmels an und diente ihnen. 4 Er baute auch Altäre im Haus des HERRN, von dem der HERR gesagt hatte: In Jerusalem soll mein Name sein ewiglich! (5Mo 12,11; 1Kön 9,3) 5 Und er baute dem ganzen Heer des Himmels Altäre in den beiden Vorhöfen am Haus des HERRN. (Jer 32,33; Hes 8,3; Hes 8,10; Hes 8,14; Hes 8,16)

6 Er ließ auch seine Söhne durchs Feuer gehen im Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms und trieb Zeichendeuterei, Zauberei und Beschwörung und hielt Geisterbefrager und Wahrsager, und er tat vieles, was böse ist in den Augen des HERRN, um ihn herauszufordern. (5Mo 18,10; 2Chr 28,3; Jer 7,31) 7 Er setzte auch das Götzenbild, das er machen ließ, in das Haus Gottes, von dem Gott zu David und seinem Sohn Salomo gesagt hatte: In diesem Haus und in Jerusalem, das ich aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt habe, will ich meinen Namen wohnen lassen ewiglich; (1Kön 8,29; 2Kön 21,7; 2Chr 33,4; Ps 132,13)

8 und ich will den Fuß Israels nicht mehr aus dem Land vertreiben, das ich ihren Vätern bestimmt habe, wenn sie nur darauf achten, alles zu tun, was ich ihnen geboten habe in dem ganzen Gesetz, in den Satzungen und Rechten durch Mose! (2Sam 7,10; 2Chr 7,12) 9 Aber Manasse verführte Juda und die Einwohner von Jerusalem, sodass sie Schlimmeres taten als die Heidenvölker, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israels vertilgt hatte. Manasse wird gefangen genommen und tut Buße

10 Und der HERR redete zu Manasse und zu seinem Volk, aber sie achteten nicht darauf. (2Kön 21,10; 2Chr 35,15; Sach 1,4; Apg 7,51)

11 Da ließ der HERR die Heerführer des Königs von Assyrien über sie kommen; die fingen Manasse mit Haken, banden ihn mit zwei ehernen Ketten und führten ihn nach Babel ab. (5Mo 28,36; 2Kön 20,17; Hi 36,8; Ps 107,10)

14 Danach baute er eine äußere Mauer an der Stadt Davids, westlich von der Gihon[-Quelle] im Tal und bis zum Eingang beim Fischtor und rings um den Ophel, und machte sie sehr hoch; und er legte Hauptleute in alle festen Städte Judas. 15 Er tat auch die fremden Götter weg und entfernte das Götzenbild aus dem Haus des HERRN und alle Altäre, die er auf dem Berg des Hauses des HERRN und in Jerusalem gebaut hatte, und warf sie vor die Stadt hinaus. (2Kön 21,7; 2Chr 33,3; Jes 2,17; Hes 18,21; Hos 14,2; Mt 3,8)

16 Und er richtete den Altar des HERRN [wieder] auf und opferte darauf Friedensopfer und Dankopfer und befahl Juda, dass sie dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, dienen sollten. König Amon von Juda

21 Amon war 22 Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte zwei Jahre lang in Jerusalem. (2Kön 21,19) 22 Er tat aber, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, wie es sein Vater Manasse getan hatte. Und Amon opferte allen Götzen, die sein Vater Manasse gemacht hatte, und diente ihnen. (2Kön 21,1; 2Chr 33,1; Hes 20,21) 23 Aber er demütigte sich nicht vor dem HERRN, wie sich sein Vater Manasse gedemütigt hatte, sondern er, Amon, lud große Schuld auf sich. Manasseh Reigns in Judah

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. (2Kön 21,1) 2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. (2Chr 28,3) 3 For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had broken down, and he erected altars to the Baals, and made Asheroth, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. (5Mo 16,21; 5Mo 17,3; 2Kön 18,4; 2Chr 30,14; 2Chr 31,1)

4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.” (2Chr 6,6) 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. (2Chr 4,9) 6 And he burned his sons as an offering in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. 7 And the carved image of the idol that he had made he set in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever, (2Chr 4,1; 2Chr 33,15) 8 and I will no more remove the foot of Israel from the land that I appointed for your fathers, if only they will be careful to do all that I have commanded them, all the law, the statutes, and the rules given through Moses.” (2Sam 7,10) 9 Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do more evil than the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.

Manasseh’s Repentance

10 The LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention. 11 Therefore the LORD brought upon them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh with hooks and bound him with chains of bronze and brought him to Babylon. (5Mo 28,36; Ri 16,21; 2Chr 36,6) 12 And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. (2Chr 32,26) 13 He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God. (1Chr 5,20; Esr 8,23; Dan 4,25) 14 Afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of Gihon, in the valley, and for the entrance into the Fish Gate, and carried it around Ophel, and raised it to a very great height. He also put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities in Judah. (1Kön 1,33; 2Chr 27,3; Neh 3,3; Neh 12,39; Zef 1,10)

15 And he took away the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built on the mountain of the house of the LORD and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside of the city. (2Chr 33,5; 2Chr 33,7) 16 He also restored the altar of the LORD and offered on it sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving, and he commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel. 17 Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God. (2Chr 32,12) 18 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, behold, they are in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. 20 So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his house, and Amon his son reigned in his place.

Amon’s Reign and Death

21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. (2Kön 21,19) 22 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. Amon sacrificed to all the images that Manasseh his father had made, and served them. (2Chr 33,7; 2Chr 34,3; 2Chr 34,4)

23 And he did not humble himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself, but this Amon incurred guilt more and more. (2Chr 33,12) 24 And his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his house. 25 But the people of the land struck down all those who had conspired against King Amon. And the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.
