1Взглянул Иаков и увидел, и вот, идет Исав, и с ним четыреста человек. И разделил детей Лии, Рахили и двух служанок.2И поставил служанок и детей их впереди, Лию и детей ее за ними, а Рахиль и Иосифа позади.3А сам пошел пред ними и поклонился до земли семь раз, подходя к брату своему.4И побежал Исав к нему навстречу и обнял его, и пал на шею его и целовал его, и плакали.5И взглянул и увидел жен и детей и сказал: кто это у тебя? [Иаков] сказал: дети, которых Бог даровал рабу твоему.6И подошли служанки и дети их и поклонились;7подошла и Лия и дети ее и поклонились; наконец подошли Иосиф и Рахиль и поклонились.8И сказал Исав: для чего у тебя это множество, которое я встретил? И сказал Иаков: дабы приобрести благоволение в очах господина моего.9Исав сказал: у меня много, брат мой; пусть будет твое у тебя.10Иаков сказал: нет, если я приобрел благоволение в очах твоих, прими дар мой от руки моей, ибо я увидел лице твое, как бы кто увидел лице Божие, и ты был благосклонен ко мне;11прими благословение мое, которое я принес тебе, потому что Бог даровал мне, и есть у меня все. И упросил его, и тот взял12и сказал: поднимемся и пойдем; и я пойду пред тобою.13Иаков сказал ему: господин мой знает, что дети нежны, а мелкий и крупный скот у меня дойный: если погнать его один день, то помрет весь скот;14пусть господин мой пойдет впереди раба своего, а я пойду медленно, как пойдет скот, который предо мною, и как пойдут дети, и приду к господину моему в Сеир.15Исав сказал: оставлю я с тобою [несколько] из людей, которые при мне. Иаков сказал: к чему это? только бы мне приобрести благоволение в очах господина моего!16И возвратился Исав в тот же день путем своим в Сеир.17А Иаков двинулся в Сокхоф, и построил себе дом, и для скота своего сделал шалаши. От сего он нарек имя месту: Сокхоф.18Иаков, возвратившись из Месопотамии, благополучно пришел в город Сихем, который в земле Ханаанской, и расположился пред городом.19И купил часть поля, на котором раскинул шатер свой, у сынов Еммора, отца Сихемова, за сто монет.20И поставил там жертвенник, и призвал имя Господа Бога Израилева.
1Cuando Jacob alzó la vista y vio que Esaú se acercaba con cuatrocientos hombres, repartió a los niños entre Lea, Raquel y las dos esclavas.2Al frente de todos colocó a las criadas con sus hijos, luego a Lea con sus hijos, y por último a Raquel con José.3Jacob, por su parte, se adelantó a ellos, inclinándose hasta el suelo siete veces mientras se iba acercando a su hermano.4Pero Esaú corrió a su encuentro y, echándole los brazos al cuello, lo abrazó y lo besó. Entonces los dos se pusieron a llorar.5Luego Esaú alzó la vista y, al ver a las mujeres y a los niños, preguntó: ―¿Quiénes son estos que te acompañan? ―Son los hijos que Dios le ha concedido a tu siervo —respondió Jacob.6Las esclavas y sus hijos se acercaron y se inclinaron ante Esaú.7Luego, Lea y sus hijos hicieron lo mismo y, por último, también se inclinaron José y Raquel.8―¿Qué significan todas estas manadas que han salido a mi encuentro? —preguntó Esaú. ―Intentaba con ellas ganarme tu confianza —contestó Jacob.9―Hermano mío —repuso Esaú—, yo tengo más que suficiente. Quédate con lo que te pertenece.10―No, por favor —insistió Jacob—; si me he ganado tu confianza, acepta este presente que te ofrezco. Ya que me has recibido tan bien, ¡ver tu rostro es como ver a Dios mismo!11Acéptame el regalo que te he traído. Dios ha sido muy bueno conmigo, y tengo más de lo que necesito. Fue tanta la insistencia de Jacob que, finalmente, Esaú aceptó.12Más tarde, Esaú le dijo: ―Sigamos nuestro viaje; yo te acompañaré.13Pero Jacob se disculpó: ―Mi hermano y señor debe saber que los niños son todavía muy débiles, y que las ovejas y las vacas acaban de tener cría, y debo cuidarlas. Si les exijo demasiado, en un solo día se me puede morir todo el rebaño.14Es mejor que mi señor se adelante a su siervo, que yo seguiré al paso de la manada y de los niños, hasta que nos encontremos en Seír.15―Está bien —accedió Esaú—, pero permíteme dejarte algunos de mis hombres para que te acompañen. ―¿Para qué te vas a molestar? —contestó Jacob—. Lo importante es que me he ganado tu confianza.16Aquel mismo día, Esaú regresó a Seír.17Jacob, en cambio, se fue hacia Sucot, y allí se hizo una casa para él y cobertizos para su ganado. Por eso a ese lugar se le llamó Sucot.[1]18Cuando Jacob volvió de Padán Aram,[2] llegó sano y salvo a la ciudad de Siquén, en Canaán, y acampó frente a ella.19Luego, por cien monedas de plata[3] les compró una parcela a los hijos de Jamor, el padre de Siquén, y allí instaló su tienda.20También construyó un altar, y lo llamó El Elohé Israel.[4]
