1-2زمينهای تصرف شدهٔ كنعان، بين نه قبيله و نيم به حكم قرعه تقسيم شد، چون خداوند به موسی دستور داده بود كه زمينها به حكم قرعه تقسيم شوند. العازار كاهن، يوشع و رؤسای قبايل بنیاسرائيل اين قرعهكشی را انجام دادند.3-4موسی قبلاً زمينهای سمت شرقی رود اردن را به دو قبيله و نيم داده بود. (قبيلهٔ يوسف شامل دو قبيله به نامهای منسی و افرايم بود. قبيلهٔ لاوی نيز گرچه به طور كلی از زمين محروم بود، ولی شهرهايی برای سكونت و چراگاههايی برای چرانيدن حيوانات به ايشان داده شد.)5پس تقسيم زمين، مطابق دستوراتی كه خداوند به موسی داده بود، انجام گرفت.
زمين كاليب
6روزی عدهای از مردان قبيلهٔ يهودا به جلجال نزد يوشع آمدند. يكی از آنها كه كاليب، پسر يَفُنه قَنِزی بود، از يوشع پرسيد: «آيا به خاطر داری وقتی در قادش برنيع بوديم، خداوند دربارهٔ من و تو به موسی چه گفت؟7در آن زمان من چهل ساله بودم. موسی ما را از قادش برنيع به سرزمين كنعان فرستاد تا وضع آنجا را بررسی كنيم. من آنچه را كه حقيقت داشت به او گزارش دادم،8اما برادران ديگر كه با من آمده بودند، قوم را از رفتن به كنعان ترسانيدند. ولی چون من خداوند، خدای خود را پيروی میكردم،9موسی به من قول داد زمينی كه قدم در آن گذاشتهام تا ابد از آن من و فرزندانم باشد.10حال چنانكه میبينی، از آن هنگام كه در بيابان سرگردان بوديم تاكنون كه چهل و پنج سال از آن میگذرد خداوند مرا زنده نگاه داشته است. با اينكه هشتاد و پنج سال از عمرم میگذرد11هنوز مانند زمانی كه موسی ما را برای بررسی سرزمين كنعان فرستاد، سالم و قوی هستم و میتوانم باز مثل گذشته سفر كنم و با دشمنان بجنگم!12پس اكنون كوهستانی را كه خداوند وعدهاش را به من داده است، به من بده. بدون شک به خاطر میآوری وقتی برای بررسی اوضاع به كنعان رفته بوديم، عناقیهای غولآسا در آن كوهستان زندگی میكردند و شهرهای ايشان بزرگ و حصاردار بود؛ اما به ياری خداوند، من آنها را از آنجا بيرون خواهم راند، همانطور كه خداوند فرموده است.»13-14يوشع كاليب را بركت داد و حبرون را به او بخشيد، زيرا كاليب از صميم دل خداوند، خدای اسرائيل را پيروی كرده بود. حبرون تا امروز نيز از آن كاليب میباشد.15(پيش از آن حبرون، قريهٔ اربع ناميده میشد. اربع نام بزرگترين دلاور عناقیها بود.) در اين زمان، در سرزمين كنعان صلح برقرار بود.
1These are the inheritances that the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel gave them to inherit. (اعداد 34:17; يوشع 17:4; يوشع 21:1)2Their inheritance was by lot, just as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses for the nine and one-half tribes. (اعداد 26:56; اعداد 33:54; اعداد 34:13)3For Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them. And no portion was given to the Levites in the land, but only cities to dwell in, with their pasturelands for their livestock and their substance. Caleb’s Request and Inheritance
6Then the people of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God in Kadesh-barnea concerning you and me. (اعداد 14:24; اعداد 14:30; اعداد 32:12; تثنيه 1:36; تثنيه 1:38; يوشع 14:13; يوشع 15:17)7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. (اعداد 13:6; اعداد 13:16; اعداد 13:30; اعداد 14:6)8But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God. (اعداد 13:31; تثنيه 1:28)9And Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and your children forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ (اعداد 14:24; تثنيه 1:36; يوشع 1:3)10And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, just as he said, these forty-five years since the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. (اعداد 14:30; يوشع 14:7)11I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming. (تثنيه 31:2; تثنيه 34:7)12So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.” (اعداد 13:28; اعداد 13:33)13Then Joshua blessed him, and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. (يوشع 10:36; يوشع 15:13; يوشع 21:11; يوشع 22:6; داوران 1:20; 1تواريخ 6:55)14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel. (يوشع 14:8)15Now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath-arba.[1] (Arba[2] was the greatest man among the Anakim.) And the land had rest from war.
