1اين پيام برای بابل است: مهاجمی از سرزمين دهشت، مانند گردباد بيابانی، به سوی بابل میآيد.2رؤيای ترسناكی میبينم، رويای خيانت و نابودی! ای لشكر عيلام حمله كن! ای لشكر ماد محاصره كن! خدا به نالهٔ قومهايی كه زير دست بابل هستند پايان میدهد.3با ديدن و شنيدن اين چيزها مدهوش شدم و دردی چون درد زايمان همهٔ وجودم را فرا گرفت.4میترسيدم و قلبم به شدت میتپيد. آرزو میكردم هر چه زودتر شب فرا رسد، ولی آرامش شب نيز جای خود را به وحشت داده بود.5در رؤيا ديدم فرشها پهن شده و سفره چيده شده است و عدهای مشغول خوردن و نوشيدنند. ناگهان فرمانی صادر میشود: «ای سرداران برخيزيد و سپرهای خود را برای جنگ آماده سازيد!»6در اين هنگام خداوند به من فرمود: «يک دیدبان تعيين كن تا هر چه را میبيند، خبر دهد.7هنگامی كه ببيند سواران جفتجفت بر الاغ و شتر میآيند بايد دقت كند.»8-9پس دیدبان را بالای حصار گذاشتم. يک روز او فرياد زد: «ای سرورم، روزها و شبها بر دیدبانگاه خود ايستاده دیدبانی كردهام. اينک فوج سواران را میبينم كه جفتجفت میآيند!» در اين هنگام، صدايی شنيدم كه میگفت: «بابل سقوط كرد! بابل سقوط كرد! همهٔ بتهای بابل خرد شدند و روی زمين افتادند!»10ای قوم من اسرائيل، ای قومی كه مانند گندم كوبيده و غربال شدهايد، به اين خبر خوشی كه از جانب خداوند قادر متعال، خدای اسرائيل، به شما اعلام كردم، گوش دهيد.
نبوت دربارهٔ ادوم
11اين پيام برای ادوم است: يک نفر از ادوم مرا صدا میزند: «ای دیدبان، از شب چه خبر؟ چقدر مانده شب تمام شود؟»12من جواب میدهم: «بزودی روز داوری شما فرا میرسد. به سوی خدا بازگشت كنيد تا من خبر خوشی به شما دهم. او را بطلبيد و دوباره بياييد و بپرسيد.»
نبوت دربارهٔ عربستان
13اين پيام برای عربستان است: ای مردم ددان كه در بيابانهای عربستان اردو میزنيد،14به تشنگانی كه نزد شما میآيند آب دهيد؛ ای مردم تيما به فراريان خوراک دهيد.15اينها از شمشير برهنه و كمان كشيده و از جنگِ سخت گريختهاند.16خداوند به من گفت: «درست پس از يک سال قدرت و شوكت قبيلهٔ قيدار از بين خواهد رفت17و از تيراندازان و جنگاوران اين قبيله بيش از چند نفر باقی نخواهند ماند. من كه خداوند، خدای اسرائيل هستم اين را میگويم.»
1The oracle concerning the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the Negeb sweep on, it comes from the wilderness, from a terrible land.
